Smackdown Results-March 19th,2021

We see a clip of Edge winning the World Heavyweight Championship 14 years ago on SmackDown.

Daniel Bryan is in the ring. Bryan hyped up tonight’s main event. Bryan says if Jey wins, we know what we will get. He will do everything in his power to make sure that Roman wins at FastLae. And if Roman was the Champion he thought he was, he wouldn’t need that help. But Edge is the ultimate opportunist. He will do anything he can to get what he wants and what he wants is to face Roman Reigns one on one at WrestleMania.

Bryan says he gets it, he understands why and that is because Edge doesn’t want to face him. And Edge thinks that he can beat Roman Reigns but the difference is Edge thinks he can beat Roman while Bryan knows he can beat Roman. He says he will prove it at FastLane. He says he will make Roman tap out.

Out comes Roman Reigns to the ring along with Paul Heyman. Roman laughs and says Bryan will tap him out. Roman calls Bryan DB and says he can deal with Bryan telling these lies about how he is ambitious but if he is going to lie on the Tribal Chief, that he can’t. He says Bryan can’t tap him out. He says Bryan has a better chance of shooting lightning out of his ass than tapping him out. Roman tells him no one in his entire career has ever tapped him out. He would rather lose his arm than to tap out to any man. And he will rather die in that ring than to tap out to somebody like him.

Bryan says that is pretty strong but make no mistake, he is talking about lies he has told. All those things that Roman says about himself, those are all lies. They are all delusions. And the thing is that everyone thinks they are invincible until they are not. And everyone thinks they are untapoutable until they tap out. Bryan says he won’t just make Roman quit, he is going to break him. He is going to break him of his beliefs, of everything he thinks he is.

Daniel says he hopes Roman doesn’t die but if he taps out or doesn’t tap out, he will beat Roman for the Universal Championship at FastLane.

Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring with Paul Hyeyman and Jey Uso.

We are back and we are told that Nia Jax will face Sasha Banks for the Smackdown Women’s Championship next week.

Daniel Bryan is in the ring.

Adam Pearce has the contract while Roman looks like he is not excited to be here.

Adam Pearce asks who would like to sign first.

Roman looks at Adam like he did something wrong.  Roman tells Adam to get him his chair and put it at the head of the table.

Roman tells Bryan he doesn’t want to do this.  You did everything you were supposed to do.  I agreed to it a few weeks ago.  This week, I’m not feeling it so it is a no.  I am not signing this.  He tells Daniel he does not deserve it.

Daniel signs the contract and he says who would have thought that Roman Reigns isn’t a man of his words.  Who would have thought that you wouldn’t want to face me.  Everyone thought that I was better and I proved it when I made Jey Uso quit last week.  Are you afraid to sign the contract.  Daniel says he should be the self proclaimed head of the table.

Roman signs the contract and he gives the contract to Jey and Jey gives it to Adam.

Daniel tells Roman he will tap him out just like he tapped out Jey Uso.

Jey throws the table aside and he says that this match needs a special guest enforcer to call it fair and square down the middle and that person is him.

Edge’s music plays and he says that sounds like a great idea.  How about I have a one on one match next week to see who is the Special Enforcer.

Adam makes the match official.

Edge enters the ring and he goes after Roman.  Bryan sends Jey to the floor.  Edge pushes Bryan away and Bryan goes for a flying knee on Edge.

We go to credits.

SmackDown preview, March 12, 2021: Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns sign the contract for their WWE Fastlane clash

Last week Bryan earned the right to challenge for the Universal Championship at Fastlane where he aims to finally humble The Head of the Table and carry the prestigious title to a main event battle with Edge at WrestleMania. This week on Friday Night SmackDown, Reigns and Bryan will participate in a contract signing to make that anticipated WWE Fastlane match official.

Bryan last battled The Big Dog for the Universal Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber, squaring off against the self-aggrandizing titleholder after outlasting five other Superstars inside the imposing Elimination Chamber. Reigns saw an opportunity to prey upon the fatigued “Yes!” Man following that grueling contest, granting Bryan his title match the very same night. The Big Dog made the submission expert tap out to his feared Guillotine, but not even the machinations of Reigns or his Special Counsel Paul Heyman could keep Bryan from earning another opportunity at WWE Fastlane on Sunday, March 21, at 7 ET/ 4 PT, steaming live in partnership with Peacock and WWE Network.

Can Bryan and Reigns keep the peace as they put pen to paper for their Universal Title rematch?

Smackdown Results-March 5th,2021

– Graves sends us to the ring, where Michael Cole is waiting with a mic. He says as we just saw, WrestleMania 37 could be headlined by Edge vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Title, or not, if his guest has anything to say about it. Cole introduces Daniel Bryan and out he comes to a pop and a “yes!” chant from the virtual crowd.

Graves hypes Bryan vs. Jey Uso in a Steel Cage for tonight’s main event, with Bryan earning a shot against Reigns at WWE Fastlane if he wins. Bryan will have to acknowledge Reigns as the best wrestler on the planet and The Head of The Table if he loses. Cole asks Bryan about tonight’s main event and the stipulations. Cole mentions how a win for Bryan would throw a wrench in the originally planned Fastlane main event, which was Edge and Bryan vs. Uso and Reigns. Cole asks why Bryan has turned his focus to Reigns and the title, and why he passed on the tag team main event.

Bryan says Cole is making assumptions, the biggest being that anyone ever asked him if he wanted to be in the tag team match. Bryan says no one felt the need to run anything by him because they know he will show up and work his butt off no matter what. Bryan understands why Edge or Reigns didn’t bother asking him. Bryan says he’s making a change. He’s not going to be the old Daniel Bryan anymore. He knows they have this Edge vs. Reigns dream match for WrestleMania and he gets it. Everyone wants to see the Attitude Era vs. ThunderDome dream match, except for him, and he will do anything he can to make sure it doesn’t happen. Bryan excuses Cole and says he will take it from here. Bryan shows us a video package on the big screen.

The video shows how Bryan won the recent Eliminator Chamber match and came close to defeating Reigns in the title match that same night. We also see how Edge hit Reigns with a surprise Spear to end the pay-per-view, confirming that he was picking Reigns as his WrestleMania opponent. We come back to Bryan in the ring by himself now. Bryan says he’s lost a lot in his career, he’s gotten beat up a lot, so you’d think after winning his third Chamber match and fighting as valiantly as he could against Reigns, that it wouldn’t be a big deal but never in his life has he felt like such a failure like he did when he saw Edge point up at the WrestleMania sign that night.

Bryan says a lot of people don’t know this but they say Bryan doesn’t have a lot of ambition. He recalls how WWE did these personality tests a while back and the lady said he has the lowest ambition she had seen, and she wondered how he was so successful. The only answer he had was that he loves doing this and he doesn’t feel like he’s worked a day in the past 20+ years because he loves it so much. Bryan says for the last year he’s taken on being a dad more than a full-time wrestler, so he’s put other talents before himself. So when Edge pointed at the WrestleMania sign and Bryan felt like an absolute failure, it was because he failed himself. Bryan then realized he has a lot more ambition than that personality test could ever show. He knew then that he should be in the WrestleMania main event, not Edge or Roman, but him. He got upset at them being in the main event because he loves this.

Bryan says in the last three weeks he’s wrestled more matches than Edge and Bryan have combined in the last three months. He does this because he loves what he does. Bryan goes on and says he can be the absolute best. He keeps hyping up tonight’s match and earning the Universal Title shot until the music interrupts and out comes Reigns, Uso and Paul Heyman. Reigns stops on the ramp and raises the title in the air as the pyro goes off and the boos continue. We go to commercial as Reigns stares Bryan down from the ramp.

Back from the break and Team Reigns is in the ring facing off with Bryan. More pyro goes off around the ring as Reigns’ music plays. The boos get louder before Reigns takes the mic. Reigns is looking at the same guy but he doesn’t sound like the same guy. Reigns says the way Bryan is talking is confusing, so he knows the fans are confused. Reigns says Bryan is ambitious and driven now. No, Bryan is the underdog, their little guy, the lottery winner. Bryan is the guy who waits on an opportunity and sometimes it works out. Reigns says Bryan is not ambitious, guys like Reigns, and there aren’t many, are ambitious. Reigns says Bryan also doesn’t love wrestling, he needs it because he has nothing else. Reigns goes on and says he does love this business. He doesn’t need it, he does it because everybody needs him, SmackDown needs him, the roster and the crew all need him. The camera man, Heyman, Uso and Bryan all need Reigns.

Fans chant “you suck!” now. Reigns says once Jey whoops Bryan’s ass tonight, he will know he needs Reigns, in his heart, and he will acknowledge Reigns. Uso takes the mic and steps to Bryan, ranting and talking trash about tonight’s cage match. Uso says Bryan’s Road to WrestleMania ends tonight. He shoves the mic in Bryan’s gut. Uso walks away but turns to attack. Bryan counters and sends him out of the ring. Bryan stares Reigns down in the middle of the ring as his music starts back up. Fans chant “yes!” as Bryan watches Reigns makes his exit with Heyman. Uso clutches his arm and backs up the ramp while staring Bryan down.

– We see Jey Uso backstage with Roman Reigns. Reigns says the title is safe until WrestleMania if Jey can win tonight, but if not, Reigns has to defend it at Fastlane and that’s fine, but if Jey loses he not only embarrasses himself, he embarrasses the family. Reigns tells him not to embarrass their family. Uso says he’s got this. He walks off. Graves hypes the Steel Cage match as we go back to commercial.

Steel Cage Match: Daniel Bryan vs. Jey Uso

We go back to the ring and the Steel Cage is around the ring as the familiar music plays in the background. Graves is in the ring talking about how dangerous the cage is. We see a camera man sitting on top of the cage. Graves says this is one of our best camera men who is in position to show us how dangerous the climb is. Graves says our competitors will both leave a little piece of themselves in the cage tonight.

If he loses, he must acknowledge Reigns as The Head of The Table and the best wrestler on the planet. Bryan leads a “yes!” chant as he enters the cage. Bryan with Yes Kicks as they stand on the top rope now. Fans chant along with him. Uso superkicks Bryan to the mat. Uso follows up with a big splash from the top rope but Bryan kicks out at 2 as Reigns and Heyman look on.

Bryan says he’s not one of those people, he doesn’t come out and complain, those are just rumors he’s heard, but he was baffled by The Head of The Table defending his title in the second match of the night instead of the main event, or would that have given him too much time? Reigns says he also doesn’t wait on Edge, let’s talk about Edge. Reigns saw Edge in the ring last week and Edge doesn’t want it. Reigns says Edge got nervous, he looked Reigns in the eye and he was scared, because he knows what Reigns will do to him. Reigns will beat Edge down so bad he will have to be put on a Legends contract and just an Ambassador for the company. Reigns says let’s go ahead without Edge. He goes on and says he’s not dropping the WWE Universal Title until he wants to, and it’s staying on his shoulder for good.

Reigns says let’s now talk about why Pearce is here, Elimination Chamber. Pearce says he’s had the contract for a week but Heyman wanted to do it this way. Pearce says the contract states Reigns will defend the Universal Title inside the Elimination Chamber, just like WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. Fans cheer as Reigns shakes his head and says he’s going to let Heyman handle this. Heyman introduces himself to Pearce and says he understands Pearce has an agreement he wants them to take a look at. Heyman mentions how Reigns’ contract with WWE says he will appear at major events, including Elimination Chamber, but it doesn’t say he will defend inside the Chamber, just that he will defend the title AT the pay-per-view. Heyman suggests the winner of the Elimination Chamber will receive a title shot from Reigns on the spot, on the same night as the Chamber match. Fans boo. Heyman asks Pearce what the hell he’s going to do about it – fire Reigns this close to WrestleMania 37? Heyman asks how did WrestleMania 36 do without Reigns last year? He says it was the lowest-attended WrestleMania of all time, carefully forgetting to acknowledge the COVID-19 pandemic.

Heyman rants about the Chamber match being held once again, and the winner receiving a title shot that night from Reigns. He says Pearce is welcome. Pearce says there will be qualifying matches tonight. Heyman tries to interrupt and Pearce asks if he ever shuts up. Pearce first has two Superstars in mind, who don’t need to qualify, who have taken Reigns to the limit in the past. The first is Uso. A surprised Uso looks on, as does Reigns. Pearce now steps out of the ring and goes on about the next person. He names Kevin Owens. Reigns exits the ring and gets in Pearce’s face at ringside. He doesn’t care about anyone right now but Pearce. Reigns seethes in Pearce’s face as Heyman comes out and tries to get him to back away. Uso also comes out and stands behind his cousin. Reigns and Uso stare Pearce down as Heyman gets them to back off. To clarify, Reigns will defend against the winner of the Chamber match on the same night as the pay-per-view.

This brings him to his second issue. He asks Heyman why the hell he’s out here first. Where is Edge at? He was dreaming of winning the Royal Rumble and main eventing WrestleMania 37, taking back something he never lost, something he feels is his. Edge goes on about entering the Men’s Rumble at #1 and outlasting 29 of the best Superstars today. So now he finds himself on the precipice of the main event at WrestleMania, and that begs the question – which champion does he choose? It’s an embarrassment of riches. Does he choose WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre or WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns? Fans boo Reigns’ name. Edge says he gets a different answer from his family and his friends. But at the end of the day… the music interrupts and out comes Reigns with Jey Uso and Paul Heyman.

Without Reigns’ blessing, Heyman will not make a move on Edge. They laugh but Edge stares ahead.

Edge says he’s renting space in Reigns’ head already, he sees it, that’s why Uso is out here. Reigns tells Uso to go back to the bus because he’s got this. Uso exits the ring, as does Heyman, who watches from the apron. Reigns steps closer to Edge and accuses him of disrespecting him, and disrespecting his family. Reigns is only going to say this once – acknowledge me. Acknowledge me as the main event at WrestleMania, acknowledged me as the champion of choice. Say my name. Reigns says that was Edge’s cue, now go.

Kevin Owens suddenly attacks Reigns from behind and quickly drops him with a Stunner as the crowd pops. A stone-faced Owens marches right out of the ring and straight up the ramp as the crowd pops, not stopping to look back. Edge simply places the mic on the mat, looks down at Reigns on the mat, and exits the ring as the post-Royal Rumble edition of SmackDown goes off the air.
